About Caroline Stanley

Go West, Young Woman
Caroline Stanley In 1996, after a decade in retail sales and store management, Caroline went to work for Platinum Guild International (PGI) in Newport Beach, California, where her retail skills translated well into the trade arena, helping to increase the sales of platinum. Caroline was a spokesperson for platinum jewelry, as well as developing educational programs, communications materials, marketing plans and being an industry liaison for PGI. During this time, Caroline was awarded the first Special Services Award for Excellence in 1998 by the Women's Jewelry Association.

Got Education?
Education has always been a focus of Caroline's. As a former retailer, she knows how important it is to keep sales professionals knowledgeable and motivated. Caroline and co-founder Bev Hori created and developed Jewelry 101 to address this need. Jewelry 101 began as an event-based jewelry education course, covering diamonds, gold, pearls, gemstones and platinum.

From the initial start of two cities with record attendance in 1998, Jewelry 101 expanded to four cities in 1999 and to a video and workbook format in 2000. Now known as JA Jewelry 101, this project stands as one of Caroline's proudest accomplishments to-date and is sold today on video through Jewelers of America.

Caroline StanleyCaroline today still feels strongly about education and isn't afraid to show it. In 2004, Caroline created and chaired the Women In The Know education day for WJA.

Annually, the Women In The Know, a full day of seminars and networking attracts women from all segments of the industry for one day each year. The focus is on professional and personal development. She's proud her brainchild is alive and well -- and thriving -- today.

Caroline In The City
In August of 1999, Caroline moved her talents to Jewelers of America (JA) in New York City. Caroline's history with JA was well established -- during her retail tenure, Caroline had been elected President of the Arkansas Jewelers Association, which is one of JA's 42 state and local affiliates. As Director of Marketing and Communications at JA, Caroline helped develop JA's new look (including JA's retailer identity kit), increased JA';s trade presence and helped redesign JA's website.

It's True: She's A Geek
Caroline StanleyTechnology has long been a passion of Caroline's. In her next job, Caroline merged her love of jewelry with technology as she assumed the position of Vice President of Communications for Jnet. Her fascination with technology led her to further her web building skills, and to combine those new talents with her marketing and communications abilities.

Legally Brunette
From May 2001 to May 2002, Caroline again worked in the trade, this time serving as the director of marketing and development for the Jewelers Vigilance Committee (JVC) where she helped spread the word about the vital legal services the JVC offers to the industry.

Generally Speaking
In May 2002, Caroline opened Red Jewel, Inc. in California. She offers her expertise and a variety of services to companies in the jewelry trade. With her varied background, Caroline and her staff handle many different types of clients. A current client list is available on request. She's also worked with trade organizations, law firms, international consulting companies and quite a variety of designers, retailers and manufacturers.

In late 2007, Caroline and co-author Cynthia Sliwa published Jewelry Savvy: What Every Jewelry Wearer Should Know. The authors have been traveling and teaching across the U.S. at fine jewelry stores and clothing boutiques, for women's associations and community education programs, and at jewelry industry events. Jewelry Savvy is now in its second printing.

Caroline is a generalist within the industry -- Caroline Stanleyshe has an abundance of first-hand knowledge about many different facets of the industry plus the practical experience to back it up!
